A CHOIR is to be given a once-in-a-lifetime chance to perform on stage at one of the region’s leading theatres.

Auditions will be held in Darlington this weekend to find a fully-formed choir to perform in Godspell In Concert at the Empire Theatre in Sunderland.

The show is touring the UK and will appear in Sunderland for one night only on May 3. Producers are seeking local choirs to appear at each of the venues on the tour, working with West End vocal coaches and choreographers ahead of their moment in the spotlight.

Auditions will be held on Saturday (Feb 28) at Darlington Educational Village in Salters Lane South from 11.30am to 2.30pm.

Applicants must book places at the audition in advance through the website www.godspellinconcert.com.

Producers are looking for mixed- choirs with an excellent musical and performance standard and choir members must be a minimum of 16 years of age.

Musical Director Russell Scott said: “The great thing about singing is it makes people feel good and can change your mood in an instant. I am so thrilled choirs have been brought more into the public domain in recent years.

“Choirs are for everyone and I am passionate about working with them and bringing out their best”.
