A GROUP of keen knitters have created a woollen version of the 12 Days of Christmas to brighten up their church.
The Knit and Natter group from St John’s Church, in Yarm Road, Darlington, meet each week and decided to work on a Christmas project after being inspired by the Saltburn Yarnbombers.
The group have created the 12 Knits of Christmas, featuring intricate representations of the maids a-milking and the lords a-leaping, which will be displayed on a specially made pear tree, topped with a partridge.
Sheila Williamson, from the church, said: “Our group is mostly elderly ladies who meet each Tuesday with their knitting.
“We were going to string them on the railings outside the church for people to see, similar to what happened in Saltburn, but when they were finished they looked so good that we didn’t want to risk them being damaged or stolen.
“They will be in the church for everyone to see and admire.”
