A RADIO station has teamed up with a North East comedy club to help showcase the region’s comedic talent.

Darlington-based Star Radio has launched ‘Hilarity Bites the Week’ alongside Hilarity Bites Comedy Club, to launch the only show of its kind in the North-East.

The hour-long broadcast will feature comedians Tony Jameson and Andy Fury taking a sideways look at the week's news, as well as featuring visits to people and places of interest in the region.

Mr Jameson said: “No other station in the North-East is giving comedians a chance to sit down and be funny on the airwaves, so it's brilliant that Star Radio is doing that.

“We've had great fun recording a couple of pilots and our first episode received some lovely feedback, so it's great that the general public has backed us too.”

John Clayton, Star Radio’s managing director, added: “It’s great to support local talent as well as trendsetting in the region.”

Hilarity Bites has organised gigs in Darlington, North Yorkshire and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for almost a decade, bringing the likes of Sarah Millican and John Bishop to its stage, as well as promoting new talent.

‘Hilarity Bites the Week’ is the company's first venture into broadcasting.

The show is aired every Sunday from 9pm to 10pm.
