MEMBERS of a Darlington rugby club's community team have held a string of competitions at their ground.

Over three days, Darlington Mowden Park rugby club hosted the Darlington Schools Tag Rugby finals, with more than 200 year five and six children taking part.

The finals took place on Tuesday (October 21), with teams from the following schools competing: Mowden Primary, St Augustine’s, Reid Street, Hurworth, Heighington and Mount Pleasant.

A spokesman for Mowden Park said: "There was some fantastic skills and amazing tries on display for all teams.

"The winners and runners up – Hurworth Primary School and Mowden Junior School will now go on to represent Darlington in the Tees Valley Tag Rugby finals on November 6 at Middlesbrough College.

"The Mowden community team would like to thank all the teams that participated and wish Hurworth Primary School and Mowden Junior School all the very best in the finals."

The Mowden community team has also supported the Middlesbrough Schools Tag Rugby competition during October with access to referees and first- team players.

A total of 32 teams, totalling 320 children, took part in a one day competition.

Theteam has supported schools across Darlington with Rugby coaching in preparation for the Tag Rugby finals.
