A DARLINGTON choreographer has spoken of her delight at launching this year’s Jabberwocky Market on Thursday with a show in the Cattle Market.

Solas Fae is the latest production from dancer-choreographer Debbie Waistell and it will kick off four days of theatrical events in Darlington as part of the Jabberwocky Market programme.

Performed in Darlington’s traditional Cattle Market, this brand new work from the acclaimed performer is a child-friendly story of love, loss and Christmas, Inspired by traditional legends.

Ms Waistell said: "I am so happy to get the chance to make this show.

“I have been teaching dance to young people in Darlington, and beyond, for all of my career to date, and developing a really keen interest in performances that take them to new places, show them new versions of the world and inspire them.

“Solas Fae has enabled me to work with a fantastic team of artists based across the country, who have all brought brilliant professional insight to the show and I have learned such a lot from them all.

“Now we are getting ready to share the show in one of the most exciting venues I have ever come across and the team at the Cattle Market have been a dream to work with, so welcoming and open to our vision.

“I can't wait to see audiences’ reactions to the show in Darlington and after in Middlesbrough and beyond."

Performances of Solas Fae take place on Thursday, October 2 at 1pm and 6.30pm.

Tickets are priced from £7 to £9 online at www.jabberwockymarket.org.uk or on the door.
