A TEENAGE saxophonist has hit all the right notes to win work experience with Grammy award-winning musician Nile Rodgers.

Alexander Bone, from High Coniscliffe, near Darlington, has beaten thousands of other hopefuls to work with Mr Rodgers and chart-topping band, Rudimental, to remix the classic Chic track, Le Freak.

The 18-year-old saxophonist is one of 100 young people working on the track who will also perform it at a live show in London on October 9 before it is released the following day.

He said: “It’s a tough industry to break into, so to get the call telling me I’ve got the job was amazing.

“I am really looking forward to getting stuck in; working with Nile and Rudimental will be an exciting learning curve.

“The experience is going to be awesome and will hopefully help me with my future endeavours.”

The competition was launched by GoThinkBig – a work experience initiative launched by O2 and Bauer Media – to allow young people aged 16 to 24 the chance to kick-start their career by landing a dream work placement.

Mr Rodgers said: “Alexander was chosen because of his musicality, he has spent a lot of time crafting his talents through working experiences and this showed through his application.”

Tokunbo Ajasa-Oluwa, head of GoThinkBig added: “We want to make a difference to young people across the UK and show that with the right opportunity and some drive and determination, they can be successful at whatever they want.”
