A DARLINGTON primary school has opened its new facility for two-year-olds, which has been named Lullaby Lane.

The Ofsted-registered facility at Red Hall Primary School means it now offers facilities for youngsters aged two to 11.

It is part of a push for more two-year-olds, especially in deprived areas, to get access to free education earlier in life.

The purpose-built room is part of the school’s early years facilities and can accommodate 12 children on a morning and 12 on an afternoon.

Headteacher Julie Davidson said: “This is an exciting new venture for Red Hall Primary School.

"This provision is a wonderful stepping stone for children to enable them to continue their learning journey here with us at Red Hall."

Carly Egglestone, the manager of Lullaby Lane, added: “We have filled Lullaby Lane with all the resources needed to give the children the best possible start to their education.

"We look forward to encouraging the children to play, explore and be creative everyday."

Parents who think their child may be eligible for a place can call the school on 01325-254770.
