FUN run featuring singing nuns is taking place a North East park next month – and there is still time to sign up.

Cast members of the Darlington Operatic Society are supporting the event at South Park on October 5 which will raise funds for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).

They will dress up as nuns in homage to their upcoming show Sister Act which runs at Darlington Civic Theatre from October 22 to November 1.

Julian Cound, of Darlington Operatic Society, joined cast members and the GNASS bear mascot in Darlington town centre today (Monday, September 22) to promote the event.

He said: “It’s a fun way to promote Sister Act as well as the nun run.

“We’d like to get 100 people signed up and we’ve still got three weeks to go so we’re hopeful.

“You don’t have to run it, you can bring along a child in a buggy and walk around and just have fun while supporting a local charity.”

Entry to the 5k run costs £10, it starts at 11am and there will be attractions on the day including stalls and music from Star Radio.
