THE stars of a new musical celebrating the best hits of the Swinging Sixties have gathered ahead of its opening night in a North-East theatre.

The Bill Kenwright-produced Dreamboats and Miniskirts is the sequel to the hugely popular Dreamboats and Petticoats show, which inspired seven hit albums that have sold millions of copies.

Written by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, best known for Birds of a Feather and Goodnight Sweetheart, the show reveals what happened to to Bobby and Laura and Norman and Sue after Dreamboats and Petticoats ended.

The new show, set in 1963, opened to audiences at Darlington’s Civic Theatre last night (Monday, September 15) for six nights of shows until Saturday, September 20.

Songs featuring in show include Twist & Shout, Handy Man, Pretty Woman and One Fine Day.

There will also be matinee performances at 2.30pm on Thursday and Saturday.

Tickets for the show are still available from the theatre box office, priced from £18.20 for matinees and £22.50 for evening performances.
