THE final day of the rugby season will be celebrated with a family fun day by a North-East team.

Mowden Park Rugby Club, who play at The Northern Echo Arena, in Darlington, will put on a range of activities to show off the community facilities they have to offer.

The match against Macclesfield on Saturday, April 26, is a title decider between the two teams for the SSE RFU National League 2 North.

Second place Mowden Park could overhaul league leaders Macclesfield if they win by four tries, which would secure automatic promotion.

Defeat would leave them in a play-off against Bedfordshire-based Stourbridge for promotion to Northern League 1.

Mowden Park moved into the arena last year and are keen to show off the stadium and their grassroots facilities to the public.

The fun-day event on Saturday begins at noon, ahead of the 3pm kick off, and will feature live music from local bands, abseiling, face painting and the chance to try out a number of sports, including touch rugby and volleyball.

Tickets for the match are £5 for adults, while under-16s enter for free. For more details visit mowdenpark.com
