MEMBERS of a football club in Darlington are celebrating after it was awarded an FA community standard award.

Middleton Rangers FC has been recognised for its high quality in club and league football, with more than 250 players in numerous teams playing competitively.

The FA community standard achievement is the highest award given by the Football Association and rewards high quality levels of provision in club and league football.

Club secretary Andy Musgrave was delighted the club has been recognized for their achievements.

He said: “A lot of hard work went into getting this award and I’m very pleased with the outcome. The club has wanted this title for a long time now.”

“The club will reap huge benefits now we are officially FA community standard. Middleton Rangers can now recruit FA standard coaches and can receive grants to improve our ground.”

The Darlington-based side is quickly becoming one of the fastest growing clubs in the area.

The club has various teams ranging from under 6s to adults.

Players gathered at Eastbourne Sports Complex, in Hundens Lane, on Friday to celebrate the news.
