A GROUP of Darlington travel agents have launched an annual gift appeal to provide presents for children and teenagers in difficult circumstances this Christmas.
The Co-op Travel Agents in Morrisons, North Road, has held a Christmas toy appeal for several years, but has been joined by its Co-op sister agency and partner agency Thomas Cook, all based in Darlington town centre, to boost the appeal.
Toys and gifts suitable for children and teenagers of all ages can be donated at any of the branches, which will be donated to youngsters who will spend Christmas in the Darlington women’s refuge or in the children’s ward at the Memorial Hospital.
Gifts will also be distributed through the town’s social services department to families in need.
Alex Newton, manager of the Co-op and Thomas Cook stores, said the appeal has previously been very successful thanks to the generosity of people in Darlington.
New, unwrapped toys and gifts can be dropped at the travel agent branches until December 20.
