A 12-YEAR-OLD girl remains critically ill in hospital following a crash on a country road.
She was airlifted to hospital on Thursday (August 22) after suffering serious head injuries in the collision, which happened when the Peugeot 407 she was travelling in left the road and hit a telegraph pole side-on.
The driver and three other passengers, all from the Darlington area, were treated for minor whiplash injuries.
Police – who believe the accident was caused after the driver failed to negotiate an S-bend – are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which occurred at around 1.25pm on Neasham Hill, Neasham, near Darlington.
