THE following cases were heard by South Durham Magistrates sitting at Darlington Magistrates’ Court:

MOTORING OFFENCES: Thomas Stanton, 24, of Ampleforth Way, Darlington, pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence on Monday, April 22 this year. The court heard he was convicted last year for driving without insurance and, as the offence was committed less than two years after he passed his test, his licence was endorsed with six penalty points and revoked. He was ordered to pay a £37 fine, a £20 victim surcharge and £85 costs. He also had three points added to his licence.

ASSAULT DENIED: Christopher Thompson, 32, of Dunmoor Grove, Ingleby Barwick, Cleveland, denied being drunk and disorderly and assaulting a police constable in the execution of his duty while in Darlington on Saturday, April 27. He was given unconditional bail ahead of his trial at Darlington Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, November 5.

THEFT CHARGE: Allan Anthony Youngson, 25, of Anfield Court, Darlington, denied one charge of theft. He is alleged to have stolen three packets of chewing gum and three bottles of Newcastle Brown Ale worth £7.50 from SS Supermarket, in Darlington. He was granted unconditional bail and his trial will be held on Tuesday, November 5 at Darlington Magistrates’ Court.
