A CHARITY that helps disabled children has thanked the generous company that donated thousands of pounds worth of specialist equipment.

North East charity Heel and Toe - which assists youngsters living with cerebral palsy and dyspraxia – was given more than £2,000 worth of mobility equipment by the Independent Living Showroom, based in Newcastle.

A mobile hoist and a set of bespoke slings installed by the company will allow children to develop their mobility and help them to become more active.

Vicky Robinson, occupational therapy manager at Heel and Toe – which has branches in Durham and Darlington – said: “The equipment we have received from Independent Living Showroom has proven very popular amongst the kids.

“They are revelling in their new hoist system and it has all aided the sessions we run greatly. We couldn’t be happier and are so grateful for this kind donation.”

Bob Lines, owner of Independent Living Showroom, said: ““Heel & Toe appealed to us as a lot of our customers, along with their families, attend the sessions the charity runs so we simply wanted to give back.

“It is a fantastic charity and because it only exists due to local donations, we knew we needed to get involved.”
