THREE Darlington students have been selected for the England Colleges' Women's rugby squad.
Kathryn Parker, Sally Austen and Katherine Hobson, who all attend Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, were chosen in the 35-strong squad after a trial in Coventry.
They now have one more training session in Bristol to impress before the next match against Wales Colleges, on Wednesday, December 3.
The girls play club rugby at Darlington Mowden Park and are members of the Under-17 North-East squad.
Kathryn said: "We are really excited about being selected and are looking forward to the match against the Welsh Colleges. The training and games will be hard, but we're all up for it."
Mark Scott, a physical education teacher at the college, said: "This is the first year there has been a national colleges' rugby team for women, and they have done exceptionally well to be selected.
"They are all talented players and are doing much to promote women's rugby in the college, and the area.
"We are extremely proud of their achievements."
