POLICE in Darlington are tonight negotiating with a man who has climbed a tree and is refusing to come down.
The incident started at about 7pm close to Tom Raine Court and is still ongoing.
One man, who lives nearby, said: "The police have tried various methods to get him down but he is still there, and has gone further up the tree."
Inspector Mohammed Perwaze of Darlington Police, said: "A male has decided to climb a tree and is refusing to come down.
"We are negotiating with him at the moment. There is no reason for him to be up a tree.
"He is quite vocal and spewing out a barrage of abuse to officers.
"It may take some time before he comes down."
