SUPPORTERS of a restored theatre organ have handed over donations to two charities adopted by the Chairman of Durham County Council.
Councillor Brian Myers attended the launch of 80th anniversary celebrations for the Mighty Wurlitzer at the New Victoria Centre, Howden-le-Wear, near Crook.
Two performances by master musician Len Rawle on Saturday raised £300 for the Limbs for Lyndon fund promoted by Councillor Myers for Lyndon Longhorne, a Crook teenager who lost both legs and an arm to meningitis as a baby.
Joe Marsh, treasurer of the North East Theatre Organ Association, also presented £239 from a concert in November to the Chyrelle Adams Breast Cancer Trust.
The next concerts are on Saturday and Sunday April 10 and 11 and feature Michael Wooldridge. Tickets cost £5, call David Kirkbride on 01388-762467.
