Police investigate car theft

DIVING gear has been stolen from a car parked in a remote area of County Durham.

The theft occurred between 6.45pm and 7.45pm on Tuesday, February 14, when the car was left parked and secure at a car park in Waskerley.

The owner returned to find the front offside window had been smashed and a number of items of property stolen.

This included: a grey Safequip storage bag containing a large dry suit, helmet, red buoyancy aid, yellow and black boots (size 10) and a thermal suit; a grey Safequip storage bag containing a medium size dry suit, helmet, red buoyancy aid, yellow and black boots (size 6) and a thermal suit; a black Nintendo DSI with SuperMario game; a black canvas duffle bag containing a Palm Pro buoyancy aid, gloves, divers watch, blue trainers and 18 mixed size carabiners.

Police are investigating amd want to speak to anyone with information about this incident or any witnesses.

They should contact Durham Police on 101 and ask for PC Helen Pearson at the Stanhope office, or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
