Moped rider suffers broken bones in accident with car near Consett

A MOPED rider suffered two broken legs and a broken collarbone after he was in collision with a car near Consett, County Durham, last night.
The accident, which happened around 6pm, closed Benfieldside Road in both directions at Backstone Burn.
It affected traffic between Durham Road and Shotley Bridge Hospital.
The rider, who has not been named, was taken to hospital.
