WORLD renowned botanist and television presenter David Bellamy has planted trees with school children.

He visited Shotley Bridge Junior School on behalf of a design and print business.

Spot On Displays have teamed up with Tree Appeal, planting native broadleaf trees into schools, helping them with their mission of growing trees, growing minds.

Company director Samantha said: "As a local company, it’s great to be in a position to make a long term contribution to the environment, planting trees which will live for many hundreds of years."

The planting also marked the launch of Tree Appeal’s exciting new online community, Treelink, enabling schools to share and compare their environmental activities.

Professor Bellamy said: "2010 is the International Year of Biodiversity, which only happens once every ten years.

"By sponsoring trees, Spot On Displays are making a serious contribution to our UK biodiversity targets, as well as raising the awareness of this very significant year for the environment.

"A big wow to all the children who helped to plant the trees. They have helped to stitch our world back together."
