A DRAFT masterplan for the future development of a town is to go on show later this month.
The new plan for the development for the centre of Consett will be on display over two days at the town’s library, including proposals for parking, shopping, empty properties and traffic management in the area.
A consultation exercise has been taking place in the town since the beginning of the year, during which consultants have met local community groups, organisations and service providers, carried out surveys of households, businesses and visitors to the town centre.
An initial consultation event in the library attracted more than 130 people and two further events have been organised at Consett library now it has reached the latest stage. The first on Tuesday, March 30 from 3.30pm to 8pm and the second on Thursday, April 1 from 11am to 4pm.
Nicola Lewis from Social Regeneration Consultants said: "The people who live, work and shop here have been absolutely brilliant in telling us what they want improved and changed and in some cases not changed at all.
"We want to share how a new heart for the town centre could be created and how attractive and culturally significant buildings can be best promoted.
"There are quite a few underused and vacant sites in the town so we’ve also looked at how these could be brought back into use.
"People can just drop in on either of the two days and we’ll look forward to talking to them and hearing what they think."
