THE New Zealand High Commisioner is getting a taste of North-East history om a visit to Beamish Museum.
The open air museum, near Stanley in County Durham, is dedicated to recording the region’s industrial past.
During today’s (Friday February 17)visit, Derek Leask is touring the museum’s drift mine, having lunch at the fish and chip shop and meeting museum director Richard Evens.
He is accompanied by North Durham MP Kevan Jones who said: "I am very pleased to welcome the The High Commissioner to County Durham and particularly to take him to Beamish Museum, one of the outstanding attractions in my constituency.’’ Mr Leask will later visi County Hall, Durham Cathedral and Durham University.
