Stolen safe dumped in village

POLICE investigating a burglary in Cumbria are appealing for help from people in County Durham.

A safe stolen during a break in at Oil Solutions, in Main Street, Brough, was discovered after being dumped in a Teesdale village.

The premises of the biodiesel and cooking oil company were broken into between 6pm on Sunday January 29 and 6am on Monday January 30.

Along with the safe, a white VW Crafter van was also stolen but later recovered on the road towards Middleton-in-Teesdale.

Later on the same day, at around 6.45am, a dog walker found the stolen and emptied safe in the King’s Walk area of Middleton-in-Teesdale.

Police are appealing for witnesses who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time or have any information to call PC Graham Fairweather at Cumbria police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555111.
