A DIAMOND couple had a double reason to celebrate in December as they also marked their 60th wedding anniversary.
Bill and June Seeley, of South End Villas, Crook, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on December 22.
The couple met at a dance and courted for a few years before they married at St Thomas Church, Stanley, in 1951.
Mr Seeley, 80, spent time in the mines before working, driving ambulances and at Wear Valley Council.
While Mrs Seeley, also 80, worked at Raymars, Crook, and was later a carer for old people.
Lynn Cook, their daughter, said: "It’s great that they have reached this milestone and we’re very proud.
"I don’t know what the secret of a long marriage is but they have lived healthy lives and plenty of arguments, but they always make up."
The couple have no other children but they do have two grandsons and three great grandchildren.
