Chef Craig makes Countdown appearance

A CATERING student with a taste for figures is challenging some of TV’s smartest quiz brains next week.
Craig Chittenden, 21, from Coundon Grange, will be cheered on by fellow students at Bishop Auckland College when he appears on Channel 4’s Countdown programme on Monday afternoon.
The college hopes to set up a big screen to watch the show, which has already been recorded.
A spokeswoman said: "Craig is sworn to secrecy and can’t talk about the show but he had a great time at the recording.
"He has always been interested in cooking and plans to open his own restaurant one day.
"He studied maths and economics at university but decided that career path was not for him and enrolled on the Chef’s Diploma course at the college last September.
"He is a popular student and everybody will be cheering him on."
The programme is broadcast at 3.25pm next Monday (feb 8) on Channel 4.
