A THEATRE group is appealing for help to send a disabled boy to a film festival, where a movie he starred in could win an award.
Several members of the Jack Drum Arts group, in County Durham, created a silent film paying homage to Laurel and Hardy, titled Double Trouble, including member William Featherstone, 12, from Bishop Auckland.
The film has been nominated for an award at the Young People’s Short Film Festival, taking place in Bristol this weekend.
The group has chosen William, who suffers from learning difficulties caused by epilepsy, to represent them at the event.
William, who attends The Oaks School, in Spennymoor, and has been involved with the group for five years, is awaiting an operation to ease the condition.
He was part of a group of five to 11-year-olds who spent ten days creating the film last year.
A Jack Drum Arts spokeswoman said: “William has never let his disability stop him getting involved in our creative projects.”
The group needs £500 to send William and his family to Bristol. Call 07525- 048313.
