Man struck by lorry on A1 recovering

A MAN who suffered serious head injuries after he was struck by a lorry on the A1 is in a poorly but stable condition.

The 49-year-old, from the Richmond, was struck on the A1 southbound near to Catterick, in North Yorkshire, at 11.50am on Monday, March 15.

He was treated at the scene before been flown by the Great North Air Ambulance to the James Cook Hospital, Middlesbrough.

It is still unclear how the accident took place and police investigations are taking place.

The southbound A1 carriageway was completely closed between Scotch Corner and Catterick South until 5.10pm due to the accident.

The police are keen to talk to anyone who saw a small silver hatchback parked in an A1 lay-by near the Kirkby Fleetham junction, around the crash time.
