A CRAFTY young entrepreneur has risen to the challenge by creating a mini-business to raise money for charity.
Holly Buck, 10, took part in YMCA Barnard Castles Loan a Tenner scheme, which encourages young people to make as much money as they can from a 10 loan.
The Green Lane School pupil, who set up her own card making scheme, recycled old cards and invested the ten pound loaned from the YMCA to buy new materials.
This investment allowed Holly to turn her 10 into 26.75 by selling cards to family, friends and at the local church to raise the money.
Holly returned her loan to the YMCA but decided to spend her profit by donating them to the Haiti appeal to help people who were affected by the recent earthquake.
Tracy Clark, who runs the scheme at the YMCA said: "We wanted to encourage young people to be more innovative and think creatively.
"Holly has done just this and made a profit.
"We want to say a big well done to her.
"We give the young people the choice of what they would like to do with their profit allowing them to keep it if they want to. "I am really pleased Holly chose to give it away to such a worthwhile charity."
