AN intensely jealous married father-of-two was this afternoon convicted of the murder of teenage lover Jenny Nicholl.

Unemployed David Hodgson, 48, was said to have been angry over his 19-year-old lover's blossoming relationship with his elder brother.

A jury at Teesside Crown Court took ten hours over two days to find the former fence erector guilty of the murder of the shop worker.

Hodgson showed no sign of emotion when the foreman of the jury of six men and six women returned its verdict shortly before 3pm today.

Jenny's parents in the public gallery grasped hands, while her mother cried and father let out a huge sigh of relief.

Hodgson will be sentenced tomorrow by trial judge Mr Justice Openshaw.

Jenny disappeared from her home in Richmond, North Yorkshire, on June 30, 2005. She has never been seen by her family since, and her body has never been found.

The prosecution alleged that Hodgson killed Jenny on the evening she disappeared and then hid her body.

Can see this heading straight to the Appeal Courts. The Judge I believe erred in telling the jury to disregard the 4 witnesses who saw Jenny after her disappearance date. 4 witnesses not linkes is a lot to ignore esp the Jedburgh brmaid who even remembered the drink order - a pint od Diesel - Jenny's drink of choice. The two above posts simply illustrate the huge cry for blood there is in all these cases and the culture of let's get someone - he'll do.

The judge didn't direct the jury to disregard the witnesses, rather he he reminded them of the risks of taking witness sightings as gospel (its academically proven that they are unreliable). There will be an appeal because our legal system affords that courtesy but I'd be suprised if it suceeds. They got the right man.
