THOUSANDS of people, young and old, are being urged to sign up for a popular North-East walk. The Diabetes UK ten mile Great North Walk will be held in Guisborough, on Sunday, June 27. Organiser Nova International, which is also behind the Great North Run, has produced a route, which will allow participants on a clear day to take in the magnificent views of the Yorkshire Dales and Teesside at the top of Roseberry Topping.

Conditions and walk instructions
By entering the walk you agree to abide by the Conditions of Entry and any walk instructions given to you by the organisers and officials of the Great Run/Walk series.

For Reasons of Safety
No entries are permissible from people on roller skates, in wheelbarrows or carrying various objects for charity etc.

Data Protection
The Great Run/Walk series complies with the Data Protection Act 1998 and you have the right of access to your personal records held on our computer. Your name will be added to our mailing list so that we can keep you informed about the Great Run/Walk series, sportswear and other Great Run/Walk series events and services. This information may also be made available to other carefully screened organisations to contact you. You are entitled to withdraw your consent to this process.

Walk Numbers
For safety reasons and primarily for the identification by medical staff, we strictly prohibit the swapping, sale, re-sale or transfer of walk numbers in any Great Run/Walk event. If you are unable to take part, please refer to our deferment policy within these terms & conditions. In the interests of safety, no pets, dogs, or horses allowed with the exception of guide dogs, which must be on a lead or restraining harness at all times.

Walk Cancellation
If the event is cancelled or delayed due to unforeseen circumstances, we will endeavour to stage the event at a later date. In such circumstances, we will try to let you know in writing of the cancellation or delay. Our entire liability in respect of all costs and expenses you may incur as a result of such cancellation or delay will be the entry price you have paid to take part in the event.

Change of address
If your address details change after you have submitted your application, you can login to your profile on www.greatrun.org and change your postal address. Approximately 2 weeks before the event we will start the mailing process and your walk pack will go to the address we hold at that point. If you have any queries regarding this please email us with details of your old and new addresses and date of birth. Walk Ejection
Great Run/Walk reserves the right to refuse an entrant’s attendance at, and/or participation in, any Great Run/Walk event.
We are continuing in our mission to organise the world’s best, safest and most enjoyable events and hope you will help us in achieving this. Any participant who is found in breach of these terms and conditions will be excluded from future Great Run/Walk events. Please do not put someone else at risk.

Walk mementos
Only finishers will receive a commemorative medal and Finisher’s Pack. Walk numbers are NOT interchangeable. Non-participants are NOT eligible for event mementos. Limited edition event t-shirts will be sent prior to the event with walk numbers. This event is organised by Nova International whose registered office is at Newcastle House, Albany Court, Monarch Rd, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 7YB.

Wheels Friendly Little Loop
The 10 mile course is not suitable for wheelchairs/pushchairs. A shorter 2.5 mile route has been devised for wheels friendly participants. Please ensure you tick the box on the entry form.

Medical Conditions
If you have not exercised before or for some time, consult your doctor for a check up. All participants are reminded to complete the details on the back of your walk number.

Entry fees
£10 for all UK residents, £30 per family entry (2 adults. 2 children), additional child (up to maximum of 2) £5 and Wheels Friendly Little Loop £5. Applications will be accepted up to the entry limit in the order of date received. Entries will be rejected after the closing date of Friday 11 June 2010 or earlier should the entry limit be reached by this date. Consult your bank statement for confirmation of walk entry. The organisers reserve the right to amend the entry limit on safety grounds.
If your entry is accepted your fee is not refundable. Refunds will only be eligible if supported by a doctor’s note and if received by Friday 11 June 2010. All refunds will be liable to a £5.00 administration charge. Your doctor’s note should be sent to Great Run/Walk Customer Services, PO Box 1RY, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NE99 1RY. Refunds will not be possible for any other eventuality.

Use of Image
By entering the walk you give permission for the free use of your name, voice or picture in any broadcast, telecast, advertising, promotion or other medium at any Great Run/Walk event.

Collection and Use of Information
I acknowledge and agree that my personal information (including medical information entered on my walk number or collected by event medical staff during or after the event) can be stored, used and disclosed by Great Run/Walk in connection with the organisation, promotion and administration of the event and for the compilation of statistical information.
If I become ill during or after the event and/or receive medical attention or treatment either from any event medical staff or any doctor or hospital, I authorise such persons to provide my details (including details of medical treatment) to the Medical Director of Great Run/Walk events or others authorised by him.
