QUORN Foods is recalling Quorn Chilled Cocktail Sausages over a possible health risk for people with allergies.

The Food Standards Agency has issued an alert because the 180g product by the firm, which is based in Station Road, Stokesley, contains milk and barley which is not mentioned on the label.

An agency spokesman said: "This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents and/or an allergy or intolerance to barley or gluten.

"If you have bought the above product and an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents and/or an allergy or intolerance to barley or gluten, do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund."

The firm has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. The notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and what to do if they have bought the product.

The agency said the affected products included those featuring a use by date of June 7 and that no other Quorn Foods products are known to be affected.
