AN EIGHT day march between the region’s hospitals to highlight potential cuts to services is set to draw to a close.
Those taking part in the ‘Footprints’ march will spend today (Friday) walking between the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, and North Tees General Hospital, in Stockton.
On Saturday they will return to Darlington, a week after they left, reaching the Joseph Pease statue in the town at approximately 4.30pm where they will be a rally and songs from the choir ‘Making Waves’.
After walking onto Darlington Memorial Hospital, a fundraising night will follow at 7pm at The Keys, in Skinnergate, which will include live music.
One of the organisers, Jo Land, who is aiming to walk all 110 miles, said: “At times there has been about half-a-dozen of us and other times up to 50.
“We have talked to lots of people, given them leaflets and met with a lot of local activists. We have really increased awareness of what is going on with the NHS.”
