TWO thirds of North-East men do not know that keeping a mobile phone in their pocket could damage their sperm, a report shows.

The research discovered that 70 per cent of men in the region keep their phone in their pocket and nearly 66 per cent of those did not know that phone radiation can affect sperm health.

Furthermore, 65 per cent said they were not concerned about the health risks.

Harry Gardiner, the managing director of mobile phone case manufacturer WaveWall which undertook the research, said men should take steps to protect themselves.

However, although some studies have shown that the low-level electromagnetic radiation emitted from phones does have a negative impact on sperm, most experts say that more research is needed before reliable conclusions can be drawn.
