AMBULANCE bosses have decided to take board meetings on the road in a bid to allow more people to attend meetings.

Up until now, the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) monthly board meetings, which are open to members of the public, have been held at the service’s headquarters, in Newburn Riverside.

But from this month, they are going out on the road in an effort to make them more accessible to the public.

The next meeting will be held at the Durham Dales Centre, in Stanhope, on Thursday, February 26, at 12.30pm.

Ashley Winter, NEAS chairman, said: “A key function of the board is to ensure that there is effective dialogue with our local community on our plans and performance.

“Our meetings have always been open to the public but we recognise that the location of meetings is incredibly important and that our headquarters is not necessarily the most convenient venue for people to be able to attend.

“We are therefore going out into the community we serve in order to try and reach as many of our residents as possible, allowing people across the North-East to tell us what they think.”

Board papers will be available to view online at neas.nhs.uk/about-us-our-board

Anyone wanting to attend the next meeting is asked to inform the NEAS beforehand by contacting Gillian Elsender on 0191 430 2005 or Gillian.elsender@neas.nhs.uk
