A CARE home in County Durham has been named the Care Establishment of the Year at a national awards ceremony.

Tenlands Care Home in Ferryhill was awarded the title at this year’s National Association of Care Catering (NACC) Awards.

Staff were praised by the judges for demonstrating an advanced understanding of nutrition and how it applies to the medical needs of residents.

The care home was also awarded the Food for Life Bronze Catering Mark in May which guarantees excellence in the produce used to make residents’ meals.

Victoria Lee, Tenlands Care Home manager, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been named the Care Establishment of the Year at this year’s NACC Awards.

“This award is a testament to the dedication and commitment that the Tenlands team put in every day to ensure that our residents are provided with the highest standard of nutritious food.”

Regional managing director, Liz Whyte, added: “To be named the Care Establishment of the Year is brilliant and I would like to congratulate the team at Tenlands on this achievement.

“This is a great example of HC-One providing the kindest care.”
