AN AUTISM charity is expanding its services.
Main, which supports people and families affected by autism, has been operating in the Tees Valley for 13 years.
Now it is expanding into County Durham, offering short breaks for children in Easington and Sedgefield and support for adults.
The support covers understanding and managing a diagnosis, independent living, health and wellbeing, socialising, employment and volunteering.
A spokesman said: “Main exists to offer advice and services tailored to individuals and families living with autism spectrum conditions to raise aspirations, empower and to have the confidence to wear the T-shirt with a smile.
“Our ambition is to change society’s perceptions of autism spectrum conditions and to increase understanding of the challenges and opportunities that living with autism brings.”
Referrals can be made by professionals, relatives or the individuals themselves. For further details, email: info@iammain.org.uk or call 0191-300-8556.
