125th Durham Miners' Gala

A quarter of a century after the end of the miners' strike, those dark days and the feeling of brotherhood they engendered were remembered at the 125th Durham Miners’ Gala. Tens of thousands of people basked in glorious sunshine as brass band music filled the air on Saturday, July 11.
