ELEVEN people have been caught illegally fishing in the North-East since the coarse fish close season began last month, the Environment Agency has said.
The close season runs from March 16 to June 15 and anglers can be fined up to a maximum of £50,000 for fishing during this period.
The aim is to give the fish time to breed and spawn and refresh stocking levels.
