AN ENERGY boss will discuss how the UK can keep the lights on at a public lecture in the region next month (Thursday, February 6).

Ian Marchant, former chief executive of SSE and now chairman of Infinis Energy, will reflect on 25 years in the energy industry and discuss issues and challenges facing the energy sector.

He said: “I have been fortunate to work in a vital and fascinating industry, energy, for 25 years and continue to be involved in many aspects.

“Our modern way of life is almost completely dependent on the provision of reliable and affordable energy and as a result rarely a day goes past without the energy industry making headlines.

“I am pleased to have this opportunity to take a step back and look at some of these issues and hopefully make a constructive contribution to the energy debate.”

The Durham Energy Institute lecture will take place at Durham University’s Calman Learning Centre, off South Road, Durham, on Thursday, February 6, at 6.30pm.

Tickets are free, but must be booked online at eventbrite.co.uk
