A NEW head teacher has been appointed to a leading independent junior school.
Sally Harrod will take the helm at Bow School, Durham in September.
Founded as an independent day school for boys aged three to 13 in 1885, Bow became the preparatory school for Durham School in 1976 and now caters for girls and boys aged two-and-a-half to 11.
Mrs Harrod is currently deputy head teacher at Lincoln Minister Preparatory School.
She said: “Bow School has a deservedly excellent reputation and I am very much looking forward to heading its exceptional teaching team.
“It is my primary aim to present children with the skills, knowledge and understanding that can equip them to be life-long inquisitive learners and to provide a supportive and stimulating environment so they can achieve their full potential.”
Kieran McLaughlin, the head of Durham School, said: “Sally has considerable experience in achieving high academic standards at all levels.
“She also has a proven track record of developing and delivering outstanding pastoral care and education of the children and I am confident she will be a considerable asset to the pupils and staff at Bow.”
