A MATHS and German teacher is to speak to potential recruits to the profession.

Leanne Chadwick, from Wellfield School in Wingate, County Durham, is to speak at the Train To Teach roadshow at the Crowne Plaza in Newcastle on Wednesday.

She will tell potential teachers about the rewards and opportunities a classroom career offers.

Ms Chadwick said: “Teaching is a fantastic career choice.

"As a teacher you are changing young people’s lives for the better, inspiring them to fulfil their potential and realise their ambitions. I love going home knowing I’ve made a real difference.

Visitors to the event, organised by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL), will be able to meet representatives from schools and universities that provide teacher training, gain insights into how to make a strong application, and receive one-to-one advice from current teachers and teaching experts.

The event will also showcase the financial support available and provide information on the competitive starting salaries, as well as the rewards that teaching has to offer.

The free Train to Teach event is being held at Crowne Plaza Newcastle, in Forth Street, from 4.30pm to 8pm. Participants can register on the day.
