Five arrests following firearms operation in York

POLICE are questioning five men arrested following a firearms operation in York today.

The arrests were connected to violent threats made to the occupants of a house in the Tang Hall area of the city at about noon.

The men were arrested at about 9.15pm and taken to York Police Station for questioning.

A police spokesman said inquiries are ongoing and added: “Police patrols have been stepped up in the area to provide a reassuring presence for concerned residents.”
