Driver in court over deaths


A MOTORIST has appeared in court charged with causing two deaths while driving without due care and attention.

Andrew Moorhead of Erskine Road, Hartlepool was involved in a road traffic accident in Tees Road, at about 7.45pm, on July 3 last year.

Maxine Wise, 34, of Eddleston Walk, Hartlepool, was travelling in the back seat of Mr Moorhead’s Ford Focus when it was involved in a collision with a motorbike.

She was airlifted to hospital but later died.

Motorcyclist Edward Adams, 51, of Oxford Road, Hartlepool, died at the scene.

Mr Moorhead, 31, did not enter a plea when he appeared at Hartlepool Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The case was committed to Teesside Crown Court. He was granted unconditional bail.
