POLICE are appealing for help in tracking down a convicted thug who has been recalled to prison.

Richard James Sampson, 29, from York, was convicted of grievous bodily harm with intent at York Crown Court in 2004 and sentenced to nine years in jail.

He was released from prison on licence in November, but it was revoked last month after he breached a curfew.

Sampson is 6ft, and usually wears a tracksuit and baseball cap. He is not believed to pose a danger to the public, but people are advised not to approach him.
