Cricket pavilion burnt to ground

8:46am Monday 15th March 2010

A CRICKET pavilion in the grounds of a Georgian hall has been burned to the ground by arsonists.

Fire crews were called to the Ormesby Hall Cricket Club before midnight on Friday following reports that a hut was on fire.

Two fire engines attended and the fire was extinguished after an hour due to water supply problems. The fire is believed to have been deliberate as there were signs that a door had been forced open.

The cricket club was founded in 1886.
