A MAN has today been found guilty of murdering Darlington grandmother Pamela Turner and jailed for life.

Joseph Turner, of Sanderson Street, Darlington, had admitted killing Ms Turner at her flat in the Spring Hill area of the town on October 19, but denied murder on the grounds that he lost control after she goaded him.

However a jury at Teesside Crown Court found the 62-year-old guilty after just over two hours of deliberation.

Ms Turner, 61, who was previously married to the defendant's brother, died of internal bleeding after being stabbed five times.

Giving evidence in his defence, Turner told the court: "She started goading me, calling me names. She was trying to belittle me. It just went on for ages and ages - she wouldn't stop.

"When she she told me I wouldn't have the guts to do it, I lost control."

Turner and his victim had a three-year relationship.

He was jailed for life with a minimum term of 15 years.
