Missing chef's father to again appeal to the public

THE distraught father of missing chef Claudia Lawrence is to make yet another plea for information on national TV.

He’s appearing tomorrow on BBC One’s Missing to once more outline the two-year-old mystery of his daughter’s disappearance.

With him will be Detective Superintendent Ray Galloway, who is leading the hunt for Miss Lawrence, and the missing woman’s best friend, Suzy Cooper.

Miss Lawrence, a chef at York University, was 35 when she disappeared without trace in March 2009.

Despite the biggest operation by North Yorkshire police in five years - and numerous multi-media appeals - there has been no sign of her since.

Police are now officially treating her case as one of suspected murder but her father Peter, a solicitor originally from Darlington who now lives in Ryedale, is convinced she is still alive.

On today’s programme, to be broadcast at 9.15am, he will speak about his family’s anguish at not knowing what has happened Miss Lawrence.

He will also talk about his support for the Missing Rights campaign, aimed at securing new legislation to help those who have to deal with a missing person’s estate.

Footage of a candlelit vigil for missing people and their relatives and friends held at York Minster earlier this year will also feature.

His friend and spokesman Martin Dales said yesterday: “It keeps the case of Claudia in the public eye.”
