Man has surgery after dance-floor attack

1:48pm Wednesday 8th July 2009

A MAN needed surgery for a broken jaw after being attacked on the dance floor at a North-East pub.

The 22-year-old, from the North Shields area, was assaulted in the Queens Head Hotel in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, at around 2.20am on Saturday, June 27.

The incident left him needing surgery to insert a metal plate into his jaw, which was broken in two places.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault, and believe the suspected attacker was a white male in his mid to late 20s.

A spokesman for Durham Police said: "There would have been quite a large number of people still in the Queens Head at that time, and I would like to appeal for anyone with information to come forward."
