A WOMAN who was knocked unconscious by a horse and cart at Appleby Horse Fair has left hospital.
The woman suffered a suspected concussion in the collision in the Cumbrian village at 12.30pm on Friday.
She was taken to Cumberland Infirmary, in Carlisle, for treatment.
Cumbria Police yesterday confirmed she had been discharged.
A spokesperson said: “The woman involved in the collision with the horse and cart suffered suspected concussion and was released from hospital.”
Appleby Horse Fair is a tradition that dates back to at the 12th century, if not further, and is the largest gathering of the travelling community in Europe.
More than 30,000 people were expected to attend the event at the weekend.
